MORCA Board Of Directors Vacancy – Calling for Volunteers

You may have seen our previous notice of a Board of Directors opening and a call for nominees.

Are you interested, or do you know someone who might be?

There’s nothing wrong with nominating yourself, but if you’re nominating someone else, please be sure to check in with them about their availability.

The MORCA Board of Directors term runs from January 01 to December 31 of each year.  This special election will cover an open spot until December 31, 2024. If this board member is willing and able to continue after this date, they would have to be re-elected. In general, two-year terms for board members are preferred but not required, so the hope for this open spot is that the individual commits – via re-election – through 2025.

We’re looking for potential Board members who will:

  • Maintain active/current IMBA/MORCA Membership.
  • Collaborate and take hands-on ownership of communications, planning, and organization.
  • Participate in some MORCA events such as Trail Work, First Saturday Rides, or special events like Take a Kid Mountain Bike Day
  • Be passionate about promoting our mission: MORCA is an organized voice for responsible mountain biking in Monterey County. We accomplish this by advocating for mountain bike trail access, maintaining area trails, and sharing goodwill with other trail users. We are involved in mountain biking advocacy at all levels of the community.
  • Be objective, trustworthy, and act in the best interest of our members.

Once elected, the 2024 Board will later self-organize into 7 volunteer roles: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and 3 “Members at Large.” Please review our Bylaws for more information.
