MORCA Trail Crew and Volunteers Open Up Trail 49S Corridor

It’s amazing how quickly the brush (and poison oak!) grows back after a wet winter.  MORCA Trail Crews work year-round to keep the trails of the Fort Ord National Monument in the best possible shape they can be.  Our recent National Trails Day event on June 1st  brought out 14 trail volunteers to trim Trail 49S (aka Twisted Sister), beating back the bush to keep the trail corridor open for safe and smooth riding.

Interested in helping to improve other trails?

MORCA has a crew of volunteers that go out Tuesday mornings 9am to 1pm.
If you have the time and want to give back to the trails contact our Trail Crew Leaders and they’ll let you know about upcoming trail work opportunities.

Check out these trails recently trimmed by MORCA:
Fort Ord National Monument Trails: T17, T18, T19, T20, T23, T32, T51, T52, T55,T69E, T35 (partial)

VOLUNTEERING FOR TRAIL WORK IS AN INVESTMENT WORTH MAKING

Let’s say you ride for 3 hrs./week 40 weeks of the year = 120 hrs.

Now let’s say you volunteer for 1 Trail Work Day of 4 hrs.

That means for an investment of 3% of your time you can say you gave back to the trails.

The Professor says, “good for the trails, good for the community and good for you too!”
