MORCA Board Members and Trail Crew Leads assembled for a very productive planning meeting in early January. Many thanks to REI for again providing us space to do this in their community room at the Marina store.
With so much work to do and so many more opportunities to grow and improve mountain biking in Monterey County, one of the main goals for this meeting was to lay everything on the table, figure out what MORCA really needs for continued success and growth, and chart a course that will get us there based on a clear set of goals and priorities. Very exciting and inspiring work, here are the priorities we came away with:
Above all, succeeding in these five areas will build needed capacity for MORCA so we can accelerate progress and increase the likelihood of projects all of us really want to see. We’re talking about the dream projects that so many other communities have created like dedicated mountain bike trails with features for all skill levels, and bike parks with progressive-skills features built for all ages and skill levels. These are the kind of projects our MTB community desires and deserves – the kind of projects that would benefit local recreation and conservation interests, local businesses and our economy, as well as residents and visitors alike.
So many other communities have done it. If we work together with a solid plan and shared vision, we can do it too!!!
